First of all, thanks to Sarah for making us do this.
Since Mark and Michel are the only others with blogs that we know, YOUR IT!
We're going to divide into in 2....
Seth gets 3 and Kristen gets 3 :) Way to double tag!
1. So, today I got my first official "marital blister" (as my brother calls them). Well not quite from marriage, but I guess raking leaves in the backyard wouldn't have been an issue if we hadn't gotten married and bought a house. We felt pressure to keep up with the Jones' since the other neighbors had their nice little piles of leaves all lined up on the street for the township to come and take them away. One key difference, though......the Jones' have leaf blowers and the Rice's do not! Ouch.....
2. Since when did the Ross Park Mall become Rodeo Drive? We haven't been to the mall in a couple of months just from being so busy with work, the house and life. We finally made it there yesterday to check out the new Nordstroms store and could not believe all of the stores that have recently been added....Tiffanys, Lucky Jeans, True Religion (I only know with because of the Fergilicious song!), Burberry.....to name a few. The one we were most looking forward to hasn't opened, yet, but get ready for L.L.Bean everyone! The Cheesecake Factory dinner was yummy, but honestly who really wants to wait for 2 hours? Luckily we were able to roam the mall and check out all of the stores while we waited.
3. This weekend was completely free and open. I spent almost the whole morning cleaning our house with Seth and organizing things. Once again, termed putzing by my sister-in-law. Apparently the McCaskey's like to putz, particularly my dad, my brother and myself. We have yet to see if little Spencer and Sydney will develop this fine appreciation for taking things slow and doing them right. Seth has identified this characteristic within me and says that I get pretty moody if I haven't had adequate putz time.
4. So I guess it's my turn (aka Seth) to blog a 'random' thought. Thanks Sarah, we needed to liven up the Rice Family Notes anyhow. Okay, down to business. I just started watching the Steelers game after our leaf raking and apparently the only action I missed were several field goals.
5. Kristen mentioned a free and clear weekend, but she forgot one (painful) detail...THE POTTERY BARN DECORATING CLASS! Who knew such a thing existed. Well ladies and gentlemen, I'm here to say it does and sadly I experienced it first hand with the little woman this morning (quick, someone hand me a power tool or beer, or anything manly). The upshot was that they had great little donuts for me to chomp on, small consolation for all the girly crap.
6. What a great fall afternoon in Pittsburgh today. Fall is my second favorite season to summer. Nothing beats crisp fall air, sunshine, and apple cider, not to mention pumpkin carving. Speaking of pumpkins, Kristen and I will be having a little carving contest in the near future to see who is the king (or queen) of Halloween pumpkin artistry in the Rice household. Wish her luck, she'll need it (just kidding....).
